MAKERS MAKING MAKING MATTER

Maris van Vlack's vision arguably takes from, and subliminally it can be argued thatv she speaks for FOLKtraditions of another time when poverty was brought about by The Great Depression Depression furnishing.

That SOCIALtragedy was caused by a combination of the 1929 stock market crash, widespread bank failures, a severe collapse in international trade due to protective tariffs, agricultural overproduction, and restrictive monetary policies tied to the gold standard.

The collapse of the banking system drastically shrank the money supply, leaving businesses and individuals without access to the credit needed to survive or invest.People responded by, wherever they could, doing more with less.

Somewhat serendipitously van Vlack's installation here speaks of a time in the past and and another time that globally that humanity is in the midst of. With this in mind makers, knowingly and unknowingly, are increasingly making, matter. WATCH THIS SPACE!
